Lakeside Christian Church is a Christ centered, Holy Spirit led, Biblically based non-denominational church. We are a community of people who love God and are passionate about the things of God. And because of this, we have a passion for people, our city, and our world.
Lakeside Christian Church began as Chadashchay, Inc., in 1974. Chadashchay was created as a parachurch ministry, which first held retreats for the purpose of supporting and encouraging the local church. Its mission quickly expanded to include worship and teaching gatherings, an area youth ministry, Chadashchay Christian School, and the sponsorship of many additional ministries and missionaries. In 1979, the ministry purchased the Kings Ranch youth camp property east of Cambridge.“The Church at Chadashchay” was formed in 1985, and its name was later changed to “Lakeside Christian Church”.
Cambridge Christian School was housed on the Lakeside campus until 2004. The original name of the school (Chadashchay Christian School) changed to its current name in 2000 when it expanded as a multi-church sponsored school and later moved into its own facility on the south side of Cambridge. Cambridge Christian School (CCS) continues to thrive in our community and offers K4-12 Christ-centered education for the surrounding communities. CCS has expanded its facility several times since moving to its new location and continues to be sponsored and supported by many area churches.
When the Christian school became multi-church sponsored and moved offsite, Lakeside Christian Church renovated it's property and grounds to be a resource for other Christian ministries and area believers. Our 23 acres on Lake Fannie continue to bless many individuals and groups who come to use our property and facilities. We currently offer opportunities for small and large group retreats, individual overnight prayer cabins, a 2-story Retreat House, and a Fellowship Hall with full kitchen for groups of all sizes. Our property also offers walking trails in our Nature Center, a beach and bonfire pit area, and a large field and Playground.
In 2018, Lakeside transitioned to a Leadership Team led model. Our Leadership Team oversees and manages the different ministry activities, provides teaching, and generally serves as a pastoral team for the Lakeside congregation.
Lakeside continues to thrive as a body of believers comitted to each other and to sharing the love of Jesus all around us. We believe that each believer is commissioned and empowered by God to be ministers in their areas of influence. And it is our mission to teach, train, and equip God's people to be released as active ministers to the world around them.
